Hi all,

I wanted to share an animation I'm working on here at Arup. The project is the Tappan Zee Bridge on the Hudson River in NY. Attached are a series of images and an animation that shows what it looks like today. The plan this year is to add to this existing model, a new bridge design that will include pedestrian access and a new rail line.

Thanks for your positive feedbacks! 3dsMax Design 2009 was used to put this mega scene together. We used mental ray for rendering, particle flow for the traffic animation, Vue6 XStream for the trees and sky atmosphere. Combustion was used to composite and color correct everything together.

Bridge Animation Empty Digital Elevation Model

Thanks alot for viewing our work and your kind replies!

Here are some of the steps we took to produce this animation:

A Digital Elevation Model was downloaded off the USGS website, a great resource where you can get any terrain and satellite images in the US. The best thing about it is that it’s all information paid for by American tax dollars. Microdem was used to convert this data into a format suitable for importing into 3DS Max.
