(photoshop, sketchup w/ vray, illustrator, these are the programs that i use daily)
i'm planning on getting me a new rig @ home, that can handle rendering, here's the pc specs of my office rig (core 2 2.93ghz, 3.50gb ram, etc) comparing it to other pc's here @ work, mine renders the slowest.

i'm leaning towards an i5 or i7, need help on what motherboard, ram, power source, monitor etc, that performs best with each other, baka bumili ako then merong compatibility issue.

hope you guys can help out, thanks Very Happy (budget would be around 40K+)

Try to spec these out from your nearest PC supplier:
Core i5 2500K
ASUS or Gigabyte P67 Mobo
8 GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 460
500-600W PSU

You can overclock it a bit to get more juice from you CPU. Im not just so sure with 40K budget including the monitors.

40k budget is for the CPU only, i'll just get some cheap ass keyboad, mouse and monitor, then upgrade later hehehe

sir poliks, the specs you posted will fall around what? including like 5.0-7.0 sound card, just the whole CPU. guitarhero

Just to start it off the basic parts i mentioned would probably cost you maybe around 30-33K already. Smile So plus maybe HDD and the Casing maybe about 40++K.

In terms of sound card, usually new mobo's have built-in support for 5.1 or 7.1 channels so it should not be a big issue. As you said you could upgrade later.

got me a few quotations from, pc express, gilmore etc., almost all of them are out of asus p8p67 mobo, went to an asus branch in MOA, they said they already pulled out that model due to some issues (???), what would you recommend as a replacement (gigbyte p67 was the only one that i found available) (and lucky me, most of the quotations falls right on my budget hehe)

Thats good to hear that the quotations fall within your budget. Yes there were some issues with the earlier MOBO's for Sandy Bridge CPU's like the one specified (2500K) so manufacturers are pulling it out and replacing them with the new Mobo's Make sure that the mobo you are buying have the latest model. Technically they call it "B3" so for example if its ASUS P8P67-B3 or Gigabyte P67 UD3R-B3 something like that. This means its the fixed mobo's. The problem was actually on the SATA-3 controllers which made some problem with your sata 3 devices. So it was just a small issue. This should be fixed with the new B3 release. You can try the UD3R from Gigabyte its the basic mobo.

thanks sir Poliks, so far these are the boards that I've found available locally:

ASUS P8P67-B3 PRO
GA-P67A-UD3P-B3
MSI P67A-GD65-B3
GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3

any inputs on these? asus is more pricey that Gigabyte P67A & MSI P67A, while Gigabyte H67MA is the more affordable one hehe

should i go with Gigabyte P67A or Gigabyte H67MA?

thanks

Since you are pairing it with the i5-2500K which means it is an unlocked processor, best to go for P67 so you can do the overclocking even for a bit. If you prefer not to overclock then pair the H67 with an i5-2500. The one with n0 "K"
