First topic message reminder :

ok share naman natin yung tatlong all time unforgetable songs natin jan at bakit?

akin.

1. "Di Na Natuto" kinanta ni Gary V. First time kasi akong kantahan ng babae nung college. location sa hagdanan ng Pampanga Capitol.

2. "Unchained Melody" Sung by the Righteous Brothers.. syempre na inlove yung wife ko ng gitarahin ko to sa kanya in 1992. pero tung kantang ito ay nagustuhan ko at ng buong opisina pala way back in 1990, nung lahat kami nanuod ng "Ghost". ang dami palang version nun. yun naging National Anthem ng architectural office namin.

3. "How great thou art" a Christian old time song... a song that just makes my heart in awe. I remember when i was in Malaysia singing this song in the church. I just really felt my spirit singing the song.

Your Top 3 unforgetable songs - Page 2 Empty Re: Your Top 3 unforgetable songs

Sir nomer said it's ok to give your top ten memorable songs, so here goes some of my picks:

1. Popsicle - Histrionics

First heard of this song during the grunge explosion. Although this is no grunge inspired piece, I like to call this one an alternative to the alternative. Taken from the underrated classic album, ABSTINENCE, Histrionics, boasts of a solid harmony and the tasteful use of dynamics. This led me to rediscovering Mr. Bruce Sprinsteen. Opening me to the idea of listening to stuff outside of my main musical palette. Who would not be curious? Histrionics, features a guitar solo which is actually the intro riff to one of Mr. Springsteen's early hit, BORN TO RUN.

2. The Inspiral Carpets - Just Wednesday

A melancholic piece about a heartbreak induced insanity. Love the organ solo to this one. Very serene and relaxing. I have yet to hear an album from these guys though.

3. Simple Minds - Don't you (Forget About Me)

Memorable in the sense, that I sang this song in public, during our office party, 2 Christmases ago. We played this one with a twist, an extended improvisational instrumental at the solo part done by yours' truly.

4. The Eagles - Hotel California

An inter-college battle of the band was held in school, and we decided to form a group, so we can be able to participate in the contest. We picked this song and a Francis M original (Girl be mine), as competition pieces. We did the acoustic remake that the eagles did, and luckily we placed 2nd, the first place also went to the college of Architecture. As for me, I accidentally bagged the best guitarist award. But honestly I need to relearn this piece, I can no longer play my parts, since it's been more than 10 yrs since I last played this in it's entirety, coupled with my impending memory gap, and you've got one forgetful guitar player in tow.

5. Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

The very first complicated intro that I copped simply by playing along to the record. I remember, it took me almost a day to figure out that famous intro. I even had to bring the bulky portable cassette player to a friends house, so I could continue figuring out the entire intro. Did not get to learn the solo part though, since, all I had back then was a battered and beaten acoustic.

6. The Bread - Aubrey

We went to a town fiesta, and we saw someone play this very popular lovesong. I have already heard of the song a lot of times on radio, but never really tried playing it even once, until that night, when upon returning the guitar to us, I decided to give it my shot, and was surprised at being able to play it almost exactly the same way as what the guy did in front of us. It was then that I realized that probably I had some talent in music, in playing the guitar specifically.

7.The Youth - Supernova Scum

One of the popular bands during the 2nd wave of pinoy rock music. The Youth, composed of Alfredo "dodong" Cruz, Joseph "erap" Carrasco, and Robert Javier reminds me of my teenage days, when all you have to do was go to school, and have fun during weekends. The "tambay" sessions with friends and how I wish I could go back to that phase in life again.

8. John Lennon - Imagine

One of the most reqeusted songs during "inuman sessions". This is the first socio-political song that I heard, paving the way for my appreciation for artists such as our very own Asin and Joey Ayala. Before this, I had no idea that music can be powerful in conveying such a powerful message. The Call for peace, and unity, among mankind, regardless of creed, color and religion.

9. Gwen Stefani - The Great Escape

This song was playing at the background, while the thief was working his way towards my back pocket. Nice song, yet, I wish Stefani would finally go back to her ska roots with her band, No doubt rather than doing these commercialized stuff.

10. Sugarfree - Insomiya

There are times when I feel sleepless, just thinking of a lot of things, mostly trivial in nature. This song totally speaks about what I feel in those sleep deprived times. Great melody, very good lyrics, from the one and only Mr. Ebe Dancel.

There you go, some of the songs that I can never forget, or music that brings me back to a phase in my life. I also have a list of personal favorites and of course, I also have picks of pieces that changed my musical direction as well. But that would probably be just be in future postings, I might consume and entire page if I do that.

Hope I was able to share a bit of myself through this. Enjoy! And happy researching for those who are curious as to how some of the songs sounds like.
