any options aside from doing it manually?

I think Kahit anong font bro pwede naman. Basta font sya na nasa pc mo.

Sir bicolano ginawa ko kc pag-ganyan! yung text ko na arabic, tinatype ko sa illustrator, then export ko sa cad files. tapos import ko sa max. pero need mo pa rin join yung mga naka unjoined na vertices to extrude or something want you want to achieve. hindi kc lalabas yan sinabi mong arabic text or japanese kc hindi siya supported ng max. kahit meron ka naka install sa pc mo ng mga fonts na ibang language. base lang po sa experience ko. sana makatulong.

its done by spline. medyo tyagaan lang tagala.
sana sa sunod na Max version kasali na yan. hehe

sir try mo dafont.com..marami dyan.hanapin mo na lang.meron ata arabic at japanese dyan na text...pag nadownload mo ang gusto mo na font,copy mo na lang then klik mo start button,klik run,then type mo fonts.then enter...patse mo na lang.lahat ng software na naka instol sa pc mo na may text,pasok dun,hanapin mo na lang sa font nya...hope naka tulong

Just like ps, any font that max finds in the system fonts folder will appear via shapes>text. Texts are spline objects so you would have to edit them yourself if you want dimensions.
