How to Light Exterior Day Light Scene in Vray?
Hi,
I am having some problems lighting up the day light scene.. (using 3ds max 2010, 64 Bit.. Vray 1.5)
1: When i use image in environment slot as a source for IBL and add vray sun... my render background comes black..
2: When i add half sphere as a lighting source and add vraylight materail to it.. and then try to add sun for better shadows.. my render does not show any vray sun effect.. its like sun is not there...
3: Vray dome light gives me faded sky...(used bitmap)
So whats the good way to light up exterior day light scene? where I can have background of my choice where I can get reflections along with good shadows..
Thanks..
(PS: I only speak English)

You need to read on something about mixing vray sun, vray sky and vray physical camera. If your background turns black, It's just actually there, it's your sun that is not strong enough. Now if your sun becomes too strong, just adjust your camera. Good luck!

Vray physical camera:
-try to lessen shutter speed value
-try to increase far env range to default 1000
-try to increase f-number to default 8
Half sphere (dome) Environment with VrayLightMtl:
-try to change color to white & increase value
There's a lot of day light settings here in CGP try to browse (search) topics with the word settings on it.

It did not work.. check my settings again.. i was manage to make background visible.. but it took 10 in output.. which i think is wrong.. sun is only 0.01 intensity..
Stuff does not looks good.. kinda fake..

Vray physical camera:
-try to decrease shutter speed below 200
Half sphere (dome) Environment with VrayLightMtl:
-at the main VrayLightMtl: parameters try to change color to white & increase multiplier value, regarding the bitmap parameters- output make it default to 1.0, because when you change the main VrayLightMtl multiplier value it will increase intensity without changing the bitmap output settings.
-Vray RT render looks noisy, please post your vray sun settings & vray render settings.

try to increase your environment to 20 and shutter speed to 60.
or render it with the sky and save it as png, then add the background in photoshop.
