Vray HDRI Sky Problem Empty Vray HDRI Sky Problem

Post by Dollmaker Mon Aug 02, 2010 1:26 pm

Hi,

I am new to this forum.. I have followed vRay HDRI Sky tutorial from

http://www.cgpinoy.org/vray-for-3d-studio-max-tutorials-f35/making-of-a-night-scene-with-hdri-or-a-sky-bitmap-t9384.htm

But i am having problems

1: Sky looks faded.. it is not clear in quality it also looks too big i mean how to tile it or something like that?.. i dont know how to fix his issue.. it also does not light the scene. I have a noon sky HDRI.. so it should light up the scene.. ( in following image i have used vray sun along with HDRI lighting so one can see whats goin on with sky)

I even tried vray dome light and put HDRI in it.. but still it shows unclear sky .. I tried to tile it in dome light.. but it messed up everything..

Here is the image..

Vray HDRI Sky Problem Hdriissue

Can someone tell me how to make that sky hdri crystal clear and in scale?

Please help me Smile Thank You for your time Smile

I have uploaded my 3Ds Max file along with the HDRI I am using.. So you can download it and see whats wrong with the settings..Thank you for your time.....

Maybe the HDRI file used is too small; try to google some really high-res HDRI & see if the problem persists. You DON'T tile hdri. As for lighting the scene, did you dial up the HDRI's intensity?... Sana post din screen grabs ng settings mo to better fine tune the problem...

I sometimes use dosch too...
Is it possible to post a link to your file so we can really look into what the problem is?...

To add; the second image is noticably brighter, don't you think? Try to use a sharper AA, like catmull...

It could also be a problem caused by your color mapping. Try to uncheck the affect background.

Thank you for your reply.. second image is brighter because I increased intensity of dome light.. but the same problem.. Sky looks faded and fake.. it is not clear.

I also uncheck the affect background but it is still not working..

I am using "DH002LT.HDR" from Dosch HDRI Skies Collection

here is the latest image with all settings.. Active viewport is Vray RT..

Her is another image.. thing is thatr HDR does not fit well in dome light.. as u can see int he image.. I checked "dont affect colors" tab and it does clear up the sky a bit.. but again u see the image u will get the problem..

It should show clear Sky background at multiplier of 1.0 for Vray Dome light.. but i had to turn it up to 10.. still unclear..

Thanks for your help and time..

theres something wrong with your new hdr settings.
- at vrayhdri settings try to increase the render multiplier
- please check your vray environment settings multiplier to 1.0 or post some screen shots.

Hmmmm, I noticed you have gamma 2.2 on your Reinhard. I never had success mixing gamma 2.2 & HDRI... With gamma 2.2 I think you'd best go with linear... As for your settings above, dial gamma back to 1.0. And as sir Rangalua said increase the render multiplier; go in large increments so the results are more noticeable, then fine tune...

What anti-aliasing filter are you using?..

Thanks for your reply.. also tried linear and also tried to put gamma to 1.. same result each time.. Here are the settings..

It dosent matter which filter i use.. result is the same.. I tried everything.. and I can see real time results in Vray Rt.. i dont need to take test render each time..

- VrayHDRI render multiplier: 3
- try to replace your hdr file with the high res. one, coz its blured.
- Try to lessen your camera shutter speed: 120
- Under Vray light cache check show calc phase if you want to see the preview of those prepass in rendering. so you can cancel with those undesired output, less time.

Try to use a bitmap sky and just use the hdri for overrides. You will get blurry results with hdri.
