Re: q6600 vs. q9400
at realtime application between 2.66 and 2.4ghz, di mo mararamdaman yan.. ewan ko lang kung magbenchmark ka.
for me, my vote still goes q6600 at price-performance ratio, beside q6600 (g0 stepping) is the best oc quad chip and still, you can even push your q6600 @ 3.0 ~ 3.2ghz with breeze, 24/7.

Re: q6600 vs. q9400
yes, clock-per-clock mas mabilis nga, but if you use it realtime, you wont see the difference.. more on paper weight descriptions, aka.. bragging rights..
but be weary because penryn chips (q9400; 45nm) is a different breed than q6600 (65nm).. need mo ng motherboard to match with penryn..(specially most of intel p45 and x48 chipset, which is costly compare from p35 and compatible nvidia chipset motherboards.
for me best choice q6600 at price-performance ratio, since the next league sa q6600 is the upcoming i7 (pair with x58) which sell at redicolous price tag at the moment
duh
q6600 @ php7k
q9400 @ php11k
san ka pa??
disclaimer: prices comparison tipidpc.com

Re: q6600 vs. q9400
yup2x... im not into ocing the chip f ever il buy it... maybe later pag nagamit ko na ng mga 2-3 years. sayang kasi baka masira kaagad. oc's do shorten the procies lyf right?
hmmm.... pero hearing from someone voting q6600 makes me think twice. gusto ko kasi ung q9400 as of now.
nagpaquote kasi ako ng pc set.
just for assessment this is what i had quoted for the pc desktop
intel core 2 quad q9400 processor
asus p5k E (wifi ready) mobo
palit radeon hd4850 512mb ddr5 graphics card
4gb (2X2gb) team elite 800mb dual memory kit
500 gb HDD 32 cache (seagate or maxtor)
700 watts zumac ppwer supply
mars orbit atx casing
samsung 22x DVD-RW Litescribe SATA
of course:
mouse
keyboard
ups
is part of the quotation... hehehe
and the monitor: samsung t220
medyo me kamahalan na kasi po... what should i downgrade and should i retain? disregard the monitor. nag down na kasi ako for the monitor. hehehe...
more comments pa po.

Re: q6600 vs. q9400
mali info nyo about oc..it doesnt mean you oc your proc, it means ma degrade kagad yung workstation nyo.. if your doing it right, theres nothing to fear.. pero if you jump straight ahead without proper knowledge about what youre doing, then dont expect good result.. as simple as it is..
there is no reason to oc your proc in 2~3years time, in six month there will be a new architecture for every chip, every socket, every tech and software..
yes it is complicated, but imagine you are using q6600 at stock speed, push it to 3.0ghz, that's already the speed of QX6850.. imagine the amount of money you save.. and at the current time.
q6600 (2.4ghz) @ 7k php
q9400 (2.66ghz) @ 11k php
qx6850 (3.0ghz) @ 33k~35k php
and the trick is you got nothing to lose, with good oc board outhere in the market nowadays that can auto adjust by itself (asus, gigabyte, dfi...), just set the multiplier 333 / 334 x 9 mulitplier = 3.0ghz; voila! you got the speed of xtreme processor with just a click or adjust on the bios..
im not pushing with the oc thing, just answering your question on whats good and bad between q6600 and q9400, which is the best way to spend every penny you earn.. but if you have skylimit budget, then pick whatever your choice will be... then oc to maximzed the capabilites of your pick processor.

Re: q6600 vs. q9400
Actually yung 4k difference sa price ng processor is malaki.. Makakabili ka nga ng isa pang H.D. eh... So I go for the original quad core which is Q6600 2.4GHz.... Yun din kasi sakin eh... hehehehehehe.. Ayus na yan bro....

Re: q6600 vs. q9400
ok2x... konti nlng il be convinced for q6600...
another query po... ive read sa other tech forums that q6600 is more power hungry... and if il oc it, it becomes more power hungry than the stock pa?
it says that it have something to do with 65nm for q6600 and 45nm for q9400. pero 1 more thing ocing both... the q6600 has the advantage because of its 8 cache while q9400 has only 6 cache.
so electricity consumption na namn? so say in the long run mas makakamura ba ako sa q9400? what do u think po?
and one more thing if il oc the chip, of cors il have to buy cooling system for the chip... d na ata kakyanin ng stock fan yan... what would be the recommended cooling fan? and what would be the best mobo for ocing?

Re: q6600 vs. q9400
your right sir dpyxl, you shouldn't oc if you don't have proper knowledge about it.. that's why i don't do it hehe.. and you also made a good point about the budget.. so it will only go down to this.. If sir vamp_lestat has the budget and would not mind the 4k difference then it definitely should be the q9400.. also about the oc medyo narealize ko na kaya nabanggit ni sir dpyxl yun eh dahil na rin sa price-performance.. maybe his point is "you can oc the q6600 to get the clock speed of the q9400 so that way you spend 4k less while getting the same performance

I hope this help. hehe... boto pa din ako sa Q6600. ^^
on my experience, hindi ganong kabilis ang dinadagdag ng 1066 vs 1333 FSB same goes to 2.4 vs 2.66ghz as the CPU frequency. I am more favorable about the L2 cache of Q6600.
