somewhat Modern House (WIP)

Inspired by this house at pbelemental.com.
A work in progress. Modeled in sketchup; rendered in 3dsmax mental ray using a different render setup.

mr sun & sky. standard settings.


image based lighting using hdri as the only light source. no mr sun & sky.


konting materials at pihit sa mr photographic exposure.


UPDATE: material tweak and some foliage.


comments and suggestions will be a lot of help improving my exterior archiviz. thanks.

Sir Logikpixel; if the last image is the IBL one, it looks fantastic. Its hard to get those clean lines with HDRI but you pulled it off.

yes, it is IBL. nabasa ko nga na mahirap kunin ang clean shadows at na-experience ko rin sa test scenes ko bago dito. thanks for visiting.

Long time no post sir...you really nailed it, using IBL with mental ray...looking forward to your next update.

thanks sir ed. yes ibl in mental ray. it's no holy grail in rendering generally, but a little technical in terms of execution. actually meron akong maliit na post na hindi mo lang siguro nakita.

Update: Konting dagdag sa model at grass using grass-o-matic. Rendered in mental ray gamit and Irradiance particle. Discussion about Irradiance particle can be found here: http://www.cgpinoy.org/mental-ray-f71/irradiance-particle-test-render

GrassOmatic rocks, don't it?... Proxy-able pa so easy on the ram siya. Di ba baligtad ang treatment dun sa grass pavers; dapat nasa holes ang grass?... And yung parang "bumps" sa kerb?... The left part needs some fill-stuff to avoid the "chasm" look... Nice road mat... I like the previous IES type... Looking good sir...

Yep, grassOmatic is proxy-able which truly rocks sensei cloud.
The grass IS inside the hole. Hindi siguro masyado kita dito sa rendered image kasi maninipis at kakaunti di gaya sa reference image.
I agree with the IES, I'll put them back on my final rendered image. Thank you for the pointers.

Ay ayun oh??? Na optical illusion ako dun ah... Sorry sir my bad... Weird cause when I look at it now di ko na makita kung pano ko nakita before... Anyways try mo din yung "Supergrass" sir okay din yun kaso pang flat areas lang ata, proxy ready din. Then there's "iGrass" for Multiscatter...

sir grabe bangis nito sir... love the flow of your process but I am loving more the final render!!! perfect realistic mood sir... patuts na kayo sir logik para sa mga MR newbies gaya ko... lalo yun foliage and the rest of the vegetation sir, sobrang ganda... wait ko yun procedures niyo nito ha... kahit kwento lang
