Need help on how to look for a 3D Game modeler Job

Hello guys. Ask ko lang. Nagwork ako sa 2D and ngayon gusto ko magapply as a game modeler or anything basta modeling. I would like to know panu ba makahanap. Nagstart pa lang talaga ako maghanap peru lahat kelangan ng 1 year experience or more.
Please give naman advice sa paghahanap..

Sir Wala pa ako experience as a 3D game artist peru 2D merun. My bachelor degree ako peru hndi related dun. may short course ako Maya. game organic modeling.. kahit hndi naman sa gaming peru mas prefer ko un..

I don't think meron pa din nagha-hire na 3d modeler lang sa game industry. Kailangan marunong ka din mag unwrap ng uv's, mag-bake ng textures(normal maps, ambient occlusion) mag-paint ng texture maps(diffuse, specular etc.), and yun mga technicalities that you have to deal with para i-ready yun asset for exporting sa game engine and marami pang iba. Lalo na kung small company lang ang pagta-trabahuan mo which is kailangan all-around ka.

Ngayon kasi, eto lang ang pagpipilian mong paths if you want to enter the video game industry as a 3d artist:

-character artist (characters, creatures)
-environment artist (buildings, props, foliage, levels, etc.)
-hard surface artist (vehicles, weapons, etc. basta anything hard surface)

And kung sa paano naman makakahanap ng game-related jobs, mag-post ka and be active sa mga game art forums (polycount, game artisans, game-artist). And have a good portfolio na concentrated sa balak mong path na pasukin.

Thanks for the info.. I have knowledge about producing those maps and unwraping manually.. thanks for those forum sites.

Yup, hindi ito text. Forum ito. At bawal ang text speak dito. Sa iba mo nalang gawin yan, baka kasi doon walang nakakapuna at walang naiinis. Let try and improve our communication skills. Dapat masanay tayo sa tama, wag sa mali.

I noticed you didnt have any links to http://www.freedomain.co.nr/ in your main page, just a suggestion, put atleast a small link for them. kasi they are really strict sometimes and if they find that you havent linked them at your page, they can shut down your site.

Thanks sir.. It has sir.. I put it at the top right corner hidden.. hehehe... I put transparency effect on it and lowered it. you can find it their just roll over it.. Do you think they'll notice it? I think they are using bot or something. I hope they will not know that I hide it? Thanks for the reminder.. Maybe I should at least make it a little visible..

If you want to find a job on the Game industry you need to prove it first try to create your own character test it on game engines. like UNREAL have it on a DEMO mode and send it to a Game Company otherwise you will end up sending CV's with out a supporting documents.

3D modeling isn't just a simple task. you need a lot of skills, most of the 3D modeler in a Game Industry is an all around type of people .. they do Modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, programming if you have those skills you are very qualified for a job on the game industry.. hope naka help.

It's not necessary to put it in a demo. Ang importante lang mapakita mo sa portfolio mo na kaya mo gumawa ng game asset. Tingnan mo itong portfolio ng mga artists na ito:

Mag-concentrate ka lang kung anong path ang balak mo. And what like I said in my previous post, be active sa mga game art forums. Dito ka makakahanap ng connections mo. I got mine by doing so. Right now I'm working as a freelance sa Liquid Development as a hard surface artist. I was also contacted by the lead artist of Infinity Ward(makers of Call of Duty series) to work on their studio pero I had to say no kasi hindi pa ko graduate.

I'm with you dude! I'm looking for that kind of job too. Right now I'm working on my portfolio. And at the same time learning things i needed to know. I've been turned down by 2 well known companies already. It was disappointing but its not stopping me from trying and get better. I want to show those companies that i can do what they do too. See you man! Hope to work with you soon!!

I wanna be a character artist.. Those artists are great thanks for the links.. The only thing I don't know is programming. I think its the least thing to know as a game artist.....

haha the same problem natin.. parehas pa tayo ng age.. I think today I'm ready na sumabak ulit sa pagapply I hope we can get a job.. Baka magkita na lang tayo..

I think naman equip na ako sa knowledge sa 3D modeling. I've watch some tutorials from DT eat3D gnomon na related sa modeling character mapa production or low or nextgen.. I need to know sana more on selling my self.

Dude try visiting IGDA Manila forum (kaso hindi yata siya gumagana ngayon). Add mo na lang yun facebook page nila. Ask them na lang for help.

And eto lang alam ko na mga 3d game development studios na active dito saten.

Well I'm not a character artist pero I think you already have the foundation to built upon. Mas maganda kung finished game character ang ilagay mo (normal mapped plus textured) sa portfolio mo. Saka kung meron kang access sa mga concept artist, try mo i-based yun mga gawa mo sa existing concept art. Importante kasi din yun, tinitingnan nila kung paano mo gagawin 3d yun and kung masusunod mo yun nakalagay sa concept. Marami naman diyan like sa Deviant Art, hingi ka na lang ng permission sa kanila.
