What is your recommended RIG?
I will build a new RIG pls prompt your recommended setups:
My current setups:
[img] [/img]
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 Quad Core 2.5GHZ black Extreme Edition
MoBo: ASUS M3A32-MVP deluxe
RAM: kingston 2x 2gb = 4GB 667MHz DDR2 Memory
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 512MB DDR5
FAN: 3 chasis fan, stock asus cpu fan
OS: Windows XP sp3
MAX 2009 vray 1.5 sp2
but im very disapointed in AMD. or maybe just my board.
i prefer the ALX from alienware buts its too expensive.
so im planing to biult an alternative RIGS
but by this time i prefer INTEL now
pls prompt your recomended setups.
budget bracket BD700 or php90,000
thanks!

Re: What is your recommended RIG?
ALX is not worth buying. you are just paying its brand name aside from the kick-ass specs that they are attaching on it and yet you can build same specs on your own without spending too much.
anyway... mag Core i7 ka na since yun na ang bagong generation ngayon. your videocard can still do the job. so what you will worry about is changing the motherboard, processor and the memory as well because Core i7 requires DDR3 memory modules. also get an X58 motherboard of ASUS or Gigabyte. If you still have the budget, you can also change your Power Supply.

Re: What is your recommended RIG?
sarap ng entry price ng i7 (specially 920 @ php15k lang) compare ng release ng c2d and c2q.. (q6600 @ 14k last year)
problem is, overprice pa x58 chipset mobo (14k ~ 22kphp) and ddr3 memory (triple channel@15k~22k)... plus you need to buy socket 1366 compatible cooler, if you want to push this baby further
i7 can deliver 4 threads and plus another 4 virtual threads sa rendering,
a whooping 8 threads at stake, thats divinity in the hands of a render master
hirap lang maghanap dito sa bahrain ng hardware store, unlike sa atin dyan sa manila, tipidpc.com lang free deliver pa sa bahay..
@ necro
release na ba i7 sa sg?
disclaimer: price @ tipidpc.com

Re: What is your recommended RIG?
need help!!!
i'm planning to build a new rig,
mainly, im gonna use it for work, mga architectural and product designs done in 3d, then ofcourse need it to be rendered. then need it also sor vector graphics and for photos
- acad,3dmax, viz, vray, cs3, x4,
then after working hard, need that rig to also be good enough better yet fast enough for gaming and having able to watch high quality movies on it.
anyways, hope you guys can help me...
and also sana it would last me about 5 years more or less before any major upgrades will be done.
budget range: 30k to 50k
thanks

Re: What is your recommended RIG?
guys, core i7 is cool, but with it comes a new motherboard and a new dd3 ram cards. although it might boost your work but the price is a bit too much to pay. With that same amount of money, you could get an SLI vid card and a core 2 quad that could simply blow you away.
For video cards, a quadro is still waaaayyy coooler, but since prices for that is heavenlly (parang langit sa mahal) you might as well score yourself a geforce gtx vid cards (SLI it if you want).
Also make sure your running 64 bit or else all that power will be wasted (like mine!)
hope this helps
TIP: spend more on processors and ram, include a nice machine case, a nice vid card would be good, but you can always upgrade these later and the prices always drops down after 3 months

Q:
sir, will having an sli setup get the job done for a moderate user of 3d max compared to a quadro gpu?
thanks

Re: What is your recommended RIG?
one thing... base doon sa nabanggit ni DURAX, he also need it for gaming. and Quadro graphics card doesn't support games. It is mainly for 3D rendering purposes only.
about having a Corei7 rig. medyo pricey ito since kakalabas pa lang sa market.
some problems on having this setup.
mahirap mag hanap ng available after-market cooler para dito, so you need to stick with your stock HSF pag wala kang nakita. also need to buy a chassis for Corei7 or need to change the motherboard hole inside. at kagaya ng sinabi ko, pricey sya, dahil you need a DDR3 memory modules for this. pinaka mura na ata non na medyo okay ay nasa 10k na agad.
@DURAX
SLi / Crossfire has nothing to do in terms of rendering. Performance-wise is more on the gaming side. dagdagan mo pa ng konti yung budget mo sir if you want a future-proof rig.
RECOMMENDED PARTS:
Processor
Go for the new quadcores like Q9450. don't buy Q9550 and Q9650. ang pinagkaiba lang nyan sa Q9450 ay CPU frequency. tapos ang mahal na agad ang idadagdag mo, though they all have the same internal specs.
Memory
Go for 4GB memory, atleast 800 - 1066mhz. recommended brands are Corsair, OCZ, and Crucial.
Videocard
kung nasa Singapore ka, mahal dito ang GTX 280 and 260. Mas maganda kung mag ATI Radeon 4870x2 2GB DDR5 ka.
Motherboard
Recommended ko na brands are ASUS and Gigabyte
kung marami ka pang tanong about sa mga models, etc. post ka lang dito sir.

Re: What is your recommended RIG?

Not really. Quadro cards are similar to their gaming card counterparts. They have special drivers that make them run 3d/Engineering programs (viewport performance) better than their gaming card counterpart. Example, the Quadro FX4600 is based around the 8800GTX. So in games they should have roughly the same performance. Personally though, as someone said it, Quadros are too expensive. It really depends on how deep your wallet is/ performance vs price gain/ investment if you plan to get these.
Some 3d programs don't even have much increase in viewport performance even with Quadros or high end cards (like Lightwave ). I find my 8800GT more than enough, even might consider downgrading even just for a lower power consumption. Unless you play games on the PC as well, I don't see the necessity of a high end card, much more an SLI/Crossfire set-up.
Re: What is your recommended RIG?
dito sa office tumatakbo CoH sa quadro.. pero kung pang game lang sa tulad ko walang molah.. 4870 will do..
up to now di ko pa din alam technical benefits ng QuadroFX and FireGL and bakit ganun ka hardcore ng price nun..
