tanong lang po, am i allowed to post my studies here? (figures, enviros, etc). mahina po kasi ako sa fundamentals, so i spend most of my time doing studies & working hard on my basics. i was hoping to post them so i could ask for your thoughts on what i should work on, as i need all the help i can get to improve.

Are these images done with a Pen tablet? Ngayon ko pa lang kasi nakikitaang flexibility ng photoshop when it comes to rendering of 2d images. Too bad nga lang la pa akong tablet. Anyway

pangahas - naaatat din naman ako kapatid, kaso nafafrustrate kasi ako pag napipilitan akong magsesettle for less than what i imagine dahil sa kakulangan ko ng skills.. that's what pushes me to keep working on my basics a very good analogy i read from a book is that these basic skills are like the tools of a carpenter.. kahit pa expert na yung carpenter, he still takes the time to measure the wood - the very first basic thing he would learn. same with the artist, no matter how far we advance we still make use of those basic skills, and that's why they're so crucial to learn by heart. may sketchbook ka ba around here kapatid? i'd love to drop by and check out your work. apir!

torvicz - salamat sir sa kind words ako rin po i neglected my basics early on, kasi di ko pa narerealize yung value ng having a solid foundation to build on. i'm trying to make up for it now. my kuya and i were debating about this just the other night - creating more finished works vs doing studies to learn basics. madali rin kasi mabog down with studies and become afraid to create finished works, same as with getting tempted to jump straight into full illustrations without being armed with the basics. so our conclusion was, as with most things - balance is the key. working on your basics & once in a while allowing yourself to enjoy doing more finished work. my balance is 75% studies & 25% own work, my kuya is the exact opposite.. i guess it's just a matter of finding a balance that works for you, your present skills and your attention span

salamat mga kapatid, once in a while nakakaburn out din talaga pag nakikita ko yung work na kailangan sa professional level ngayon.. naloloka talaga ko gusto kong tumambling hehe thanks sa encouragement, i'll keep pushing. kayo din guys, di man natin nakikita yung improvement agad, it adds up over time naman kaya sketch lang nang sketch..

after watching some vids by vilppu, i did a couple of studies.. didn't get the likeness but i learned a lot about construction & anatomy. i guess likeness will come later. ref here.

may iba pa kong studies, pero they're reffed from da stock artists & i'm still waiting for permission to post them outside da.

here's one without ref, to apply what i learned. vilppu really helped clarify some parts of construction that used to be guesswork for me. this helped speed up my process so i was able to do more studies. when you get the chance, definitely check out his stuff.


i'm moving on to the neck, pero babalikan ko ulit yung head for a more detailed anatomy study. thanks for dropping by & keep drawing mga kapatid
