I will not comment on the rendering quality because there are far more striking issues that I would want to see corrected.

It's the design.

Japanese design is not just about the look, use of indiginous materials, lighting or samurais. Japan's architectural culture survived the ages because they follow a certain rule when it comes to construction. I will not mention the thing about room space based on the number of tatami mats. I will not mention about what zabutons are. I will not mention about the "no barrier" concept of floorings. Gee, I mentioned them neverthless!

The secret to making jsutifiable concepts from other cultures specially Japanese is simple, Research for authenticity.

If you are simply making imaginative design then its OK but to call one a Japanese concept when it fact it goes around what makes a real design look authentic Japanese simply does not give justice to the origins of the idea.

THis is the reason why it has never been easy to follow a certain popular "look". Either you make it authentic or end up a poor imitation.
