It's Me - Finally

Hi, It's me again.

Here is my latest Portfolio. I couldn't think of a good title so I just called this "It's Me - Finally".

Now a little info about, I called him "It's Me - Finally" because he is actually the third and final revision of a project I did way back in college(2006) for thesis. The thesis is about a chatter bot, so my group and I thought that there should be something that would resemble a person so that chatting would be more natural/realistic. so I did the first character. But with my skill level during that time, too newbie, it didn't even look like a human and the hair was done in photoshop(2D). I remember the tutorial I found during that time, the technique was like you have to cut the plane to look like a face, then after that you would pull the vertices backwards until you form a face(more like a mask), it was like pulling a slob of clay onto someone until you have the shape of his face..

After 3years, and finally bought an decent PC out of my first job after college, I did a revision of C-bot. I even submitted it to Digital Arts Master. hehehe. I thought it was good enough already, but I didn't make it. Too bad I didn't realize the quality of my work and it took me 2 months to finish.

So now after about 5-6 months finally I got my skills and work flow smoothened out and with the good review I got on my previous personal project(oriental warrior - archer) I decided to once again recreate C-bot.

So here he is. Way better than the previous 2, this will be his final revision.
I'm happy about this, this was done only in 1 week and a half, the only processes that took so long was figuring out the Skin shader since this is in close-up shot and setting up the hair guides.

C and C are mostly welcome. also please think of a proper name for him. =)

Nice job Sir! I see how your work climbed the evolutionary ladder! The last one being much better than the last. Pero parang mas maganda nga yata yung buhok ng 2009 kaysa sa 2010.

@nahumreigh and @Canadium - I find it weird you liked the hair in the 2009 version(Anyway thanks , it a good consolation over the 2 months of work). After finishing that version, yeah it seems nice but after awhile after all the excitement of doing it has gone, reality kicks in and that's were the true self critiques came in. It actually looks like small strips of straw, its high in specular and didn't seem realistic.

@reyknow and @boyluya - Other than color correction and background, everything is done in 3dsMax. I used hair and fur for the hair.

I must say this is nice. I like the update much more...looking forward to more posts from you. Did you render this in mental ray?

Very nice mental ray render indeed. Glad you are keeping on with it. We only have a handful of mental ray users out here. So, i am looking forward to more works from you.
