modeling speed: sketchup or 3ds max?
right now i find it easier to model on sketchup and import it on 3ds max for rendering. i do sometimes model on 3ds max but i find it a bit inconvenient. probably because sketchup kasi una kong natutunan. i just want to be practical so ill practice myself on modeling on which is really. so san po ba talaga masmabilis mag model?

Re: modeling speed: sketchup or 3ds max?
Based on what I read on other forums and blogs, modeling boxy structures in sketchup is really efficient and fast as long as it has no fancy organic shapes involved. constructing models in sketchup is like building a model using cardboard & scissors while in max its more like building a model from clay. Both have their own strengths and weaknesses. In the end it depends on the users on how they can manipulate the tools at their disposal.
Cheers!

precision wise and flexibility, i go with autocad - 3dmax work flow, lalo na when handling complex project.

thanks for that quick response.. i think thats it. may question pa ako. does imported models such as from sketchup lags the scene? kasi from what ive experienced parang madaling bumibigat yun scene pag imported models gamit ko. true?

i tried modeling autocad before kaso ang daming procedures like you have to region pa bago extrude and stuffs. but thats way back version 2007. i heard di na daw ganyan sa bagong cad. never tried yet.

not really. there's a lot of procedures you can take. there's the primitives objects, polysolid, spline na puede mo gamitin to model the scene. i used region only for a complex shapes and patterns ( ex. floral pattern)

Re: modeling speed: sketchup or 3ds max?
IMHO, i still find autocad - max workflow efficient. pero gaya nga din ng sabi nila, it all depends on how you use it.
Re: modeling speed: sketchup or 3ds max?
3dsmax, Maya rules! depende again sa user kung ano ang nakasanayan, but kung complex scene at with regards to compatibility like creating animation, walkthru, interactive, games ... i'll go for max ... I only use sketchup sa madaliang presentation ...

Re: modeling speed: sketchup or 3ds max?
before ganun ang work flow ko....SU to max. dati pa e.mabigat tlga yung SU once imported sa max specially may mga curves involve....dating dati, cad to max..mabllis sa Su and my vray na rin dun...kung hirap kang magmax try mo yung vray sa SU. kung gusto mo naman mag upgrade talaga then saka ka mag aral ng modelling ng max kung speed ang gusto mong ma develop...dali lang max pero mahirap simulan kung wala kang basic. basic ang essential....hirap mag jump sa mala realistic na render kung wala kang basic sa max to vray......

Re: modeling speed: sketchup or 3ds max?
dati max model ako....pero nag shift sa cad modelling din process sa max...
IMHO....depende lang talaga kung san ka bihasa...kung san k mabilis sa modelling mas mbuti....less time pa...

Re: modeling speed: sketchup or 3ds max?
ako naman i use revit for model then export to FBx para ma render sa max using vray mas mabilis kasi lalo na kung architectural model. pero gaya nga ng sabi ng karamihan kung saan ka komportable at masaya. doon ka muna para mas mabilis matapos ang gagawin mo hehehe... wla ng tatalo a naka sanayan na...
