New York Club Outdoor Bar
I just recently finished this image. Anyway, its for a client in New York. This was a quick project, about 3 days including the client revisions. Little time was given to the image because we were also working on another project at the same time. It a sort of roof top outdoor bar. The original size is 5000 resolution, but i only re-sized it down to 800 and a slightly larger 2000 resolution. Its kinda difficult to view if it was a much larger image.
You might be wondering why the scene lacks bar elements like glasses, bottles, food...etc. The client wanted the image to look clean and less cluttered. He wanted the scene as simple as possible, though I still prefer if there were candle lights on the tables and more elements.
Anyway, here is the image. C & C are very welcome.
here is the link for the 1500 resolution of the image.

I also just completed my demo reel.. I'm just trying to figure out how i can post it here and distribute the file. I'm also still trying to find better ways to further compress the reel without further reducing quality and having an acceptable file size. Maybe someone here can help me or give me advices. My current reel is at 720 resolution, about 115mb @ about 2:30 length.

Re: New York Club Outdoor Bar
ARCHITHEKTHURA: thanks...the fire effect is actually in photoshop. I rigged the lights to match the fire image i was planning to put into the image...it took some photoshop work and cloning to get the right look. Based the fire effect on some reference photos. Only the fire was photoshoped. The log and sand pit is 3D
nomeradona: many many thanks...
mammoo_03: thanks, the fire is photoshop...but i was careful as to how strong the light rig in max for it to match the size and intensity of the fire image...took reference photos to see how bright the fire is at certain sized and how far and how strong it affects the area.
dickie_ilagan: thanks..ill will add your YM when i get home tonight...
cgil: Many thanks bro. Im glad you liked the image
denz_arki2008: salamat

SoulpoweR: thanks..you can read my reply on above regarding the fire effect.
crayzard: Sure, ill try to share as best as i can.
* Used purely 3d Max with vray for the modeling and the rendering.
* Modeling is done as economical as possible. the more efficient the model, the better and the more models you can put in our scenes, the bigger your scene. (A sofa from evermotion that has a total poly of about 200,000 polygons can be replaced with 10 sofas of 20,000 polygons. Same goes for the trees in large scale animation...you would not want to use a 1 million polygon tree and make a vrayproxy of it and dulicate it a hundred fold. you will get 100x the number of trees if u crack it down to 30,000 poly per tree.)
* After I am satisfied with the modelling detail, i start setting up the lights.
*All lighting(sourcelight, fill lights and artificial lights) are set on scene. Im not fond of using too much fake lights because I want to nail the effect as natural as possible. gives me easy control if in-case i need to change the mood of the lighting(ex.from day to night). We do a lot of animation, this is important that we consider this at all times.
*All materials are made according to the scene, gives me more control over how i want the material to react and behave. I do not use any preset materials. I create materials(dirt maps) if there is a need or if its going to give impact on my scenes. I anticipate early in the project of there are certain elements that should need unwrapping, and i prepare the model accordingly.
* After the Final Image or animation is rendered, Post effect and compositing are done with photoshop and after effects..sometimes using both the same time.
Its not as detailed, but i hope it can give some insights...coz its hard to say that i follow these rules always. I simply keep them in mind coz each project has a different scenario...really hope it helps...thanks
bokkins: Master...hehehe...maraming salamat...di pa po bigtime sa pera...bigtime lng sa problema at sakit sa ulo yung mga projects...heheheh

Re: New York Club Outdoor Bar
ARCHITHEKTHURA: If there is a specific model..a sofa from evermotion for example, if you look at the model, you might think that it could have been done with a lower poly count. Evermotion models are usually collapsed, and leaving you with a permanent mesh smooth. Replicating the model and minimizing the polygon is usually what we do here. I know it takes time, but it helps you a lot in the long run. Also a good modeling exercise. Only on worst case scenarios, that we have no more choice but to use whatever we have.
a wooden chair from evermotion for example has chamfered edges with mesh smooth applied, leaving the model with excessive polygons that are not needed. In a small scene, this is not a problem, but wen you start working on big scenes, poly count really start to be very important. There were many cases that our scene alone(jst the buildings), would already reach a minimum of 15million polygons-20, million...so populating it with trees, cars and people is very difficult, a lot of optimization has to be considered.
trees or evermotion is another example. the models are very detailed and very heavy. On some cases, we have to create our own trees in Onyx.
last resort is to use passes and object mattes...helps you break down you scene piece by piece...hehehe...
im not sure if i was able to answer your inquiry...hehehe...

Re: New York Club Outdoor Bar
A ok sir.Kuha ko na po..Yeah tama po kayo. Most of premodeled e talgang napakataas ng polycount.I thought po kse na meron po kayong ginagawa to reduce those pre modeled furnitures para bumaba ang poly count.Yung iba po kse they used plug ins like poly cruncher.Naisip ko lng kung mababaan ko ng ganun kalaki yung polygon ko aba jackpot!hehehe..
Anyway thank you po sir for giving me some of your time.Really appreciate it..

Re: New York Club Outdoor Bar
sir vitamins, ganyan talaga style ng most clients sa u.s.
they prefer to let their design stand out, ung tipong tahimik lang ung scene, wala masyadong entourage/elements
eto ang masasabi ko sa work mo......
hanep sa swabe!!! keep it up, master, sensei, guru, idol....
