UWA lenses....which one?

Hi guys..ive been checking lately some of the uwa lenses and wondering which one have the most points
considering my budget :-( that will fit to this stuff.
by the way iam on the darkside.

nikkon 10-24/f3.5 =? my first pick but still trying to get sponsors for my budget :-(
tokina 11-16/f2.8=?
sigma 10-20/f4=?
tamron 10-24/f3.5=?

im using a tokina 11-16. main reasons are

1. almost half the price of the nikkors
2. f/2.8
3. sharper at the corners compared to the nikkor 12-24
4. same optics as the nikkors (tokina lenses are manufactured by ex-nikon engineers :p)

so overall value for money with the same quality, i'd (did) get the tokina.

of course if cost is not an issue - go for the nikkor.

para sakin tokina din. iba ang f2.8 talaga.

its really worth paying plus you have the sweet f/ 2.8.
but did you encounter any problems on the auto focus using our d90?
reviews recommend tokina on d300 model and up.

maganda yung reviews ng tokina, nasubukan ko na rin ung sigma very sharp. in my opinion sigma, tokina, tamron, nikon at canon sa built lang nagkakatalo pero pagdating sa sharpness di sila gaano nagkakalayo.

breakdown ko ung points to consider (sharpness aside), in my opinion:
1. value for money: tamron, tokina (plastic build) - plastic, when exposed to UV rays will wear down over time. people who buy this will most likely upgrade in future specially if landscape photography will be their bread and butter. if you shoot landscape once in a while, these brands are good.

2. cheap but built like a tank: sigma (metal body, turn off lang pag nag peel na ung wrinkle paint finish nya). almost a pro lens that comes cheaper than the canons and nikons.

3. nikon, canon - nothing else is better than a lense that fully communicates well with your camera bodies. i've read somewhere that third party lenses communicate to the camera bodies in a compromised fashion, unlike nikon (lense) to nikon (body) and canon to canon. to add, these brands are built like a tank, no doubt and because of the price they command, it gives you a sense of pride when you're out somewhere shooting. they are also like rolex watches, their value doesn't recede too much over time compared to third parties. there are creative portrait photographers who uses UWA's too, they benefit from special coatings that renders skintones much better than using third party lenses.

really appreciate all your opinions on this. considering my budet and hope i can convince my boss ( wife) to spare me more cents for the nikkor but if not..i will go for tokina 11-16. love the f/2.8

no worries, likewise haven't got a UWA yet and saving for a nikon. a nikon full frame body...my 17-35mm automatically becomes a UWA on it. =)

by the way, i don't mind an f4 coz when i shoot landscape, i usually bring a tripod and shoot f8 onwards.

nuje if u wish u can test drive my tokina hehe. but it would be good if you can test drive the 10-24 of nikon as well.

nikon 10-24 is cream of the crop! tried it already, you will fall for its sharpness and almost zero barrel distortion but the bulging outer glass is scary. you won't be able to use a filter and is prone to scratches.

i also fell for the price. ahehe.. a friend was kind enough to loan his for one of our shoots. nothing beats the nikkors

yeah dude, another thing worth considering when getting this superb piece of glass, insurance =)

@ tutik:ive check the 10-24 and started loving it hehe...yours is 17-35mm and its the original wide trinity and definitley wide in full frame (yehey full frame na si sir glenn)...for the 10-24mm sir it can be mounted with filter. its the 14-24mm trinity which have this bulging outer glass.
so i guess i just wait for my ninongs and ninangs and add whatever i get when i come back on january for this glass.

sure sir...keep me posted kung kelan ..its been a while since we have a photoshoot din..pagbalik ko po galing pinas..lipad ako tom and be back on the 8th of january...isabay niyo na rin ang 70-200mm na bilhin :-)....there goes the christmas bonus :-) hehe

70-200.. waaah.. i think it's best to just rent it than buy it.. or better buy a 2nd hand car instead

ill suggest u get the uwa kit lense - its cheap, almost no barrel/distortion and its designed for digital camera.if ur using FF nothing beats the afs 17-35,even the new line up of nikon lens cannot be compared
